Consortium

The MASTERMINE consortium consists of 22 partners from 7 EU member states (Spain, Greece, Finland, Germany, Poland, Italy, Cyprus) and one non-EU member (South Africa). A strong, experienced, and interdisciplinary cluster that will contribute to the overall approach and achieve the objectives of the project.

DigiMine is hosted by Wits Mining Institute (WMI) located at University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. It is a 21st Century state of the art and one-of-a-kind laboratory that conducts tests, research and development, and innovation, transferring surface digital technologies into the underground mining environment. These technologies will enable a mine’s control system to autonomously observe, evaluate and take action. The ultimate objective is to use technology to put distance between mine workers and the typical risks they are exposed to daily. Mr. M Ahsan Mahboob is the Head of research and innovation at DigiMine.
