Smarter Mining with Decision Support Systems
By LIBRA AI Technologies
The mining industry is undergoing a digital transformation, and Decision Support Systems (DSS) are at the heart of this change. By integrating real-time data, predictive analytics, and interactive dashboards, Libra’s DSS platforms enable mining operations to make safer, smarter, and more sustainable decisions.
Environmental Conditions & Risk Monitoring
A key feature of LIBRA’s DSS, developed for MASTERMINE project, is the Environmental Conditions & Operational Risk Monitor. This dashboard visualizes real-time temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind conditions while automatically assessing operational risks such as dust dispersion, heat stress, or cold stress. Historical trend graphs, correlation plots, and heatmaps provide deeper insights into environmental patterns, helping mine operators connect conditions to potential risks before they escalate.

The DSS platform brings together weather forecasts and hydrological data in one place. This enables mines to anticipate extreme weather, track water flow dynamics, and monitor parameters such as flow rate, water height, and conductivity across different sites. Real-time alerts allow operators to respond immediately to anomalies, ensuring safer operations and reducing risks to both workers and the surrounding environment.

Market & Energy Intelligence
Mining is shaped by global markets. With commodity and energy pricing dashboards, the DSS helps aligning operations with fluctuating prices for metals, fuels, and energy. This supports sales planning, procurement, and budget decisions, keeping operations competitive even in volatile markets.

Displacement Monitoring & Safety
DSS dashboards track ground movements along X and Y axes, showing daily and cumulative displacements with links to factors like temperature and wind. This early detection of terrain shifts strengthens worker and infrastructure safety, enabling timely preventive action.

Designed for People
A DSS is only as strong as its usability. With custom visualisations, role-based access, and export options (CSV, XLS, APIs), decision-makers at every level, from operators to managers, get the insights they need in formats they trust.
Looking Ahead
The DSS developed under the MASTERMINE project is not limited to a single site. After its successful implementation in THARSIS mine, the system will be extended to the rest of the mining sites, ensuring consistency, innovation, and sustainability across the sector.
